Adahi Trail (Lake Thunderbird Trail)
Adahi Trail is a local favorite. Also known as the Lake Thunderbird Trail, it connects Town Center to the Thunderbird Community Center. This moderately challenging route cuts through wooded terrain, creeks, and rocky slopes.
The trail provides seasonal variety. After heavy rain, hikers are treated to cascading waterfalls. In drier months, the dry creek beds and boulder fields offer a different kind of rugged beauty.
Neighborhoods and businesses sit on either side, but the trail maintains its wild feel. Expect chirping birds, rustling leaves, and the occasional deer sighting.
Start at Town Center where you'll find a large trail map. One brief crossing over a paved road is required before re-entering the woods. The trail ends at the Thunderbird Community Center, just steps from a lakeside pier.
Tohi Trail
For a more accessible adventure, Tohi Trail delivers. This paved path offers an easy, level walk suitable for wheelchairs, strollers, or joggers.
It loops through a tranquil, tree-lined corridor near the hospital. Families enjoy the nearby playground, and pet owners appreciate the doggy clean-up stations.
Birdhouses and bat boxes line the trail. Small fitness stations dot the route for light workouts or stretches. It’s a short but serene loop—ideal for a quick nature fix.
Flathead Trail
Flathead Trail lies just past the low-water bridge on Flathead Drive. After crossing the South Fork River, you’ll see gravel parking near Flathead Beach.
The trail forms a grassy loop and hugs the river. Expect the soothing sound of rushing water and occasional open views of the shoreline.
Community-owned land between the trail and river invites peaceful exploration. You can often access the water directly in multiple spots.
This trail shines in fall. It's famously used during the community's haunted Harvest Fest trail walk.
Hidden Paths and Elevated Views
Cherokee Village holds countless unmarked gems. Many subdivisions offer community access greenbelts tucked between homes. These informal paths often lead to lakes, golf courses, or quiet wooded clearings.
Don't overlook the scenic drives either. Roads like Flathead Drive, Aqua, Hondo, and Cochise Circle sit on higher elevation and boast sweeping views.
In winter, the bare trees reveal dramatic ridgelines and distant horizons. In summer, vibrant foliage creates a lush, secluded atmosphere.
